Biography
Ruby has an MMath from the University of St Andrews. Her Masters dissertation was on comparing classical clustering approaches with Bayesian partitioning techniques. During her undergraduate studies she undertook a couple of data science internships, one of which involved clustering cancer patient data. After graduating she trained and then worked as a software engineer for two years, at a multinational investment bank, using mostly Java. She also did some machine learning within this role. Her current research is deep learning on cancer histology images. She is funded by Cancer Research UK.
Research Interests
Ruby’s research is based around predicting a cancer patient’s response to radiotherapy from their histology images using deep learning techniques, with a focus on making the results interpretable and explainable to clinicians.
