Biography
Dr Justus Hoffmann obtained a Dipl.-Ing. in Lightweight Constructions from the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. His doctoral work at the University of Oxford, funded through a Rolls-Royce studentship, focused on the modelling and experimental characterisation of the impact response of carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics (CFRP).
He has been working as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Oxford since 2018, continuing his research on the CFRP fan blade and containment of Rolls-Royce’s next generation turbine engine.
Research Interests
- Composite materials (emphasis on carbon-fibre-reinforced plastics)
- Constitutive modelling
- Material testing under elevated loading rates
- Computational mechanics
Research Project
Working on Rolls-Royce funded projects aiming at the support of the design and analysis process of carbon-fibre-reinforced fan blades and containment. This work encompasses experimental as well as modelling aspects.
