Biography
Jenny is a DPhil student at Balliol College. Before coming to Oxford, she completed her BASc in Engineering Physics and MSc in Bioinformatics at the University of British Columbia, where her thesis focused on using computer vision to analyze cancer histology images. Jenny is passionate about designing and implementing computational models for precision medicine and patient care, and has completed multiple internships within this research space. This includes biomarker analysis for depression at the NINET Lab, CRISPR/Cas9 activity analysis at Stanford University, genomic marker analysis for cancer at Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, and metagenomic analysis for respiratory diseases at Fusion Genomics. While she’s waiting for her models to train, you can find her playing badminton, baking, tinkering, walking around the city, or reading in a café.
Research Interests
Jenny is interested in the ethical analysis of AI and the development of fair, bias-free models that enable personalized medicine approaches and improve patient care.
Current Projects
Jenny is currently developing machine learning models that utilize electronic health record data for patients in emergency departments across both the UK and Vietnam.
