Biography
Dr Isaac Mear is a passionate teacher who leads multiple undergraduate teaching laboratories. His research background was originally in fluid dynamics, but now he focuses on pedagogical research related to minimising anxiety to maximise learning in lab-based teaching programming. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and holds a PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. More broadly his technical skills cover both software and hardware. Isaac is the main MATLAB Administrator for the University and is always happy to discuss anything related to MATLAB. He also has extensive outreach experience, having worked in the science communication charity sector. As such he is happy to support outreach in any way he can, through talks or activity delivery or design. Isaac is an LGBT+ Role Model at the University and a Departmental Mental Health First Aider. He has experience as a mentor for various schemes including In2Science UK, and the Neurodiversity@Oxford group. He is always happy to meet up with anyone in the Department for an informal chat over coffee.
