Biography
Edward Leggett joined the University of Oxford as a DPhil Student in September 2020, having previously obtained an MSci Physics from King's College London in 2019, which included research placements at both University College London and The Francis Crick Institute. Edwards masters project looked at conjugated polymer nanoparticles for photodynamic therapy, under the supervision of Prof. Mark Green and Dr. Aliaksandra Rakovich.
Currently, Edward is carrying out research on the role of defects on the dynamic fragmentation behaviour of additively manufactured materials within the Solid Mechanics and Materials Engineering Group, under the supervision of Prof. Daniel Eakins and Dr. David Chapman, in close collaboration with AWE. He will seek to carefully address and exploit the effects of intrinsic material variations of AM materials by systematically exploring the link between fabrication parameters, component micro-structure and high-rate constitutive and failure properties, undertaken through a combination of precision loading and advanced facility X-ray experiments.
