Biography
Alec Xu is a masters student who obtained his BASc in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto in 2022. He previously worked developing neurophotonic tools during an internship with the Max Planck Institute, developing integrated photonic neural probes and new algorithms for accelerated light field imaging. He also developed novel miniaturized microscope designs for Josselyn Frankland Labs at Sick Kids Hospital, Toronto, Canada.
Research Interests
Alec Xu is curious about new ways that light can interact with the brain. As imaging capabilities accelerate and integrated photonics become a more capable platform, the possibility for real time communication between a photonic device and the brain may allow us to interact the organ with ever increasing precision.
Current Projects
Adapting soft matter photonics for miniaturized light field imaging.
